Chie Kato
Chie Kato was born in Japan, Fukuoka. She started her ballet training in 1997 at the Chikako Tanaka Ballet studio and then, from 2004, continued her studies with Yoko Kurata.
She participated in quite a few summer intensive programs and international competitions, such as ABT Summer School in Los Angeles, Asia International Dance Competition and Youth America Grand Prix New York, where she won 3rd place (2003).
In August 2006, she enrolled at the State Ballet School in Berlin, under the direction of Gregor Seyffert, where she was trained by Marta Diminich, Anna Svitlychenko and Larisa Dobrozhan.
In 2009 she also enrolled at the University for Acting and Performing Arts Ernst Busch in Berlin. In 2011 she was awarded the Prize for Young Talented Dancer in Rising Generation by the Proskenion Foundation in Germany.
In 2012 she graduated from the State Ballet School and University in Berlin.
She first joined the Kasmet Ballet Company in Brandenburg, Germany (2013-2014) and then, in the 2015/2016 season, the Ljubljana Opera Ballet as a Demi-Soloist. She was promoted to Soloist in January 2022.
