Marin Ino
Ballet soloist Marin Ino was born in 1993 in Sapporo (Japan). She started ballet at the Chida Toshiko Ballet Studio at six. During her education in Japan, she also managed to master her skills at the Novosibirsk State Choreographic College in Russia (2005, 2006 and 2007).
She also participated in several ballet competitions, thus becoming a semi-finalist at the 39th Prix de Lausanne competition for young dancers (2011) and the winner of a silver medal at the Mia Čorak Slavenska International Ballet Competition in Zagreb (2021).
She continued her higher professional education at the Dance Department of the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague (Netherlands), where she was admitted in 2010 by Tom Bosma. The prestigious school offered her opportunity to study classical ballet under several internationally renowned dance pedagogues and the repertoires of the famous NDT (Netherlands Dance Theatre), passed on by its eminent dancers. During her study, she also participated in a Christmas production of The Dutch Don’t Dance Division, and she was coached by the principal dancer and pedagogue of the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen, Flemming Ryberg, for the title role of Irma in the ballet piece by August Bournonville, Abdallah – the Gazelle of Basra.
After she graduated, she joined The Dutch Junior Dance Division, where she stayed until 2014. She danced in several pieces created by Rinus Sprong and Thom Stuart. Especially valuable and unique were the experiences of performing outside the usual framework of the theatre stage: outdoors, on the beach, and in various schools, within their educational programme, etc.
Working as a freelancer for a year, Marin participated in multiple programmes at Korzo Theatre, where she collaborated with the NDT (Netherlands Dance Theatre). She also had an opportunity to dance at the Solo, Duo Festival in Senegal with one of the performances, choreographed by Rutkay Özpinar.
She joined the SNG Opera in balet Ljubljana as a demi-soloist, under the artistic direction of Sanja Nešković Peršin, in the 2015/2016 season. She was promoted to soloist by artistic director Renato Zanella at the end of the 2023/2024 season. Among the many main ballet roles that have particularly marked her career at the SNG Opera and balet in these past years are Aurora in Sleeping Beauty, Clara in The Nutcracker - A Christmas Carol, Giselle and Juliet in Romeo and Juliet.
