Matteo Moretto
Matteo Moretto, born in Italy in 1999, trained at Il Balletto in Italy from 2011 to 2018 under the direction of Susanna Plaino, with guidance from renowned instructors such as Oleg Grachov, Elias Garcia Herrera, and Natalija Kalgashkina. During this time, he further honed his skills at the Dutch National Ballet Academy and the English National Ballet School. He also participated in prestigious summer programs, including the Royal Ballet Summer School in London and the Opéra de Paris Summer Program.
Among the most significant stage performances during his training were roles in The Nutcracker, Tarantella, and various productions performed at The Royal Albert Hall in London and the Alexandrinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg. Matteo also performed numerous pas de deux from the classical repertoire, as well as solos in both contemporary and classical styles, earning multiple prizes in international competitions in Italy and abroad.
Since 2018, Matteo has been a member of the Slovenian National Ballet in Ljubljana, beginning as a corps de ballet member and advancing to demi-soloist in 2021. He has portrayed notable roles such as Desiderio in Maria de Buenos Aires, Tom Buchanan and Chester McKee in The Great Gatsby, Paris in Romeo and Juliet, and the Pilot in The Little Prince. His repertoire also includes roles in The Nutcracker as Solo Waltz, Guardsman, and Snowkid, as well as Rose Adagio and Puss in Boots in Sleeping Beauty, and roles in SSS by Edward Clug.
