Tjaša Kmetec
Tjaša Kmetec became a member of the Ballet Ensemble of the SNG Opera in balet Ljubljana in 1995, as soon as she graduated from the Secondary Music and Ballet School in Ljubljana. In 2001, she was promoted to Demi-Soloist, in 2005, to Soloist, in 2015, to First Soloist and in 2020, to Principal.
She has so far danced in the following ballet performances: The Great Gatsby (Daisy), Doctor Zhivago (Lara), La Sylphide (The Sylph), Swan Lake (Odette, Russian Girl, Pas de six, Pas de trois), Don Quixote (Kitri, Mercedes), Tristan and Isolde (Isolde), The Sleeping Beauty (Princess Aurora), Coppélia on Montmartre (Swanhilda), The Nutcracker (Clara, Solo Waltz Couple, Chinese Dance), Giselle (Myrtha), La Bayadère (Gamzati, Solo Shades), Stravinsky – A Ballet Evening (Apollo - Terpsichore), Mozart vs. Schumann (Mozart – Solo Couple, Schumann – Solo Couple), Serenade (Serenade – Waltz Solo Couple), Concerto barocco (Second Violin, Tango for Rachmaninov (Five Tangos – Solo Couple), Symphony of Sorrowful Songs, Orphic Hymn (Percephone), Under the Stars – Sinatra Suite and Wonderful World (Solo Couple), Le Corsaire (Birbanto's Friend), Cinderella (Genoveva, Spring Fairy), Who's the Strongest (Miss Mouse), Swan Lake – this time … after Prešeren (Ana Jelovšek), Yin & Yang (She is Missing – Solo), Love Stories (La vie en rose, Satie and I), Duality (Solo and Duet), Classics and Tango (Chopiniana), Veronika Decides …, Urbanobalet, Ballet 100 (Wire - Duet), Gala Concert DBUS (Association of Ballet Artists of Slovenia)(Raymonda), VisibleInvisible (Miniatures), Heart Meat/Cactii, Architecture of Silence…
She took part in several Competitions of Young Slovenian Ballet Dancers. She won Silver Medals in the Second Competition, held in Maribor in 1995, and in the Third Competition, held in Ljubljana in 1997.
In 2009, she received the Lydia Wisiak Award for her roles in the Ballet Evening Mozart vs. Schumann.
She has also appeared as guest at gala concerts and festivals in Sarajevo (Ballet Fest Sarajevo), Miami and New York (International Ballet Festival of Miami), Ciudad de Mexico (Festival Del Centro Historico), Bogota (Ibero-American Theatre Festival), Astana (Euro-Asian Dance Festival), Brno (Dance Brno 100), Bonn, Salzburg, Ostrava, Skopje…
