Andrej Debevec
Tenor Andrej Debevec is a principal of the SNG Opera in balet Ljubljana (Slovenian National Theatre Opera and Ballet Ljubljana), where he has been engaged as a soloist since 1993. He studied singing under Professor Alenka Dernač Bunta. He has appeared in more than 70 tenor roles, including: Alfred, Orlofsky and Blind (The Bat), Franjo (The Nightingale of Gorenjska), Daland's Steersman (The Flying Dutchman), Nemorino (The Elixir of Love), Pong (Turandot), Almaviva (The Barber of Seville), Vašek (The Bartered Bride), Pappacoda (A Night in Venice) , Sobinin (A Life for the Tzar), Ernesto (Don Pasquale), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Aleksej (Ksenija), Ecco (Black Masks), Bazilio (The Marriage of Figaro), Goro (Madama Butterfly), Truquet (Eugene Onegin), Jaquino (Fidelio),Tavannes (Les Huguenots), Guillot de Morfontaine (Manon), Ottokar (The Gipsy Baron), Troubadour (The Old Song), Lacouf (The Breasts of Tirésias), Leandro (The Inquisitive Women), Truffaldino (The Love for Three Oranges), Yeroshka (Prince Igor), Baron Boni Káncsiánu (The Gipsy Princess), Remendado (Carmen), Baron Mirko Zeta (The Merry Widow), Edmondo (Manon Lescaut), Sempronio (The Pharmacist) and Mozart (The Impresario). In 2013 he was promoted principal of the SNG Opera in balet Ljubljana. For his long-time contribution in the field of chamber theatre Andrej Debevec received the Smerkolj Award, presented for the first time by the Slovenian Chamber Music Theatre in 2008.
