Dunja Spruk
Soprano Dunja Spruk was born in Ptuj, where she attended Secondary School. She first studied Solo Singing at the Maribor Music and Ballet Secondary Conservatory under Prof. Breda Brkič and continued her studies in Graz at the University of Music and Performing Arts (Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst) under Prof. Herma Handl-Wiedenhofer.
During her studies she took part in the performances at the Graz Opera. She sang Olympia in The Tales of Hoffmann under the baton of Maestro Nikša Bareza, appeared in the operetta The Land of Smiles, and the operas Pelléas and Mélisande, Lulu and others. After that her career path took her to Vienna, where she accepted her first engagement with the Vienna Chamber Opera (Wiener Kammeroper).
After she had returned to Slovenia, she pursued a career of a freelance artist for a few years, appearing in the performances of the Opera Theatres in Maribor and Ljubljana as well as performing in numerous concerts as at home as well as abroad. Later on she accepted an engagement with the SNG Opera in balet Ljubljana (Slovenian National Theatre Opera and Ballet Ljubljana), where she has been a long-time member of the soloist ensemble and a distinguished opera soloist.
