Staš Ravter
Staš Ravter, director general of the SNG Opera in balet Ljubljana, was born in Maribor, where he attended Primary and Secondary Schools. He completed his studies at the Ljubljana Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television and earned the title of Bachelor of Dramaturgy. He also attended postgraduate MBA courses at the Faculty of Economics and Business in Maribor.
In more than thirty years, he has gained an enviable amount of work experience in various fields of activity. He thus led a theatre collective with international success and worked as the director of Slovenian Cinematheque for five years. During the European Capital of Culture Maribor 2012, he was the assistant to the director general in the business department. He also performed the duties of the programme, marketing and advertising director in the film industry and was a member of the European Commission at the Berlinale International Film Festival. He worked as an independent entrepreneur in the sphere of entrepreneurial and business consulting and, from 2016, until he became acting director general of the Ljubljana Opera on 27th April 2019 he was employed at the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia as the undersecretary, administering cohesion project contracts. At that time, he participated in editing the National Strategy in the Field of Design and, as a national representative, in the European Commission, preparing the document The Role of Public Policies in the Development of Entrepreneurial and Innovation Potential in the Cultural and Creative Sector. As a representative of the Ministry of Culture, he also collaborated with the Slovenian Tourist Board in devising the Operational Marketing Plan for Cultural Tourism in Slovenia ONKULT. In February 2019, he took over the supervision of the area of intermedial arts.
He was appointed Director General of the Slovenian National Theatre Opera and Ballet Ljubljana on 10th February 2020.
