Urška Breznik
Soprano Urška Breznik has been a soloist of the SNG Opera and balet Ljubljana (Slovenian National Theatre Opera and Ballet) since 2001 and a distinguished opera soloist since 2011. She commenced her musical studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz (Austria), and finished them at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, where she also obtained her specialisation.
While still studying at the Academy, she made her debut in the role of Adina in The Elixir of Love by G. Donizetti. In 2000 she was a Runner up in the Ondina Otta International Competition of Opera Singers. She received the Prešeren Student Award at the Academy of Music and was granted a bursary from the Wagner Society. She finished her postgraduate studies performing the role of Nedda (Pagliacci) in the SNG Opera in balet Ljubljana. She has also appeared as Norina (Don Pasquale), Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute), Hana (The Merry Widow), Luisa Miller (Luisa Miller), Anica (Equinox), Rosalinde (The Bat), Colombina (The Inquisitive Women), Tirésias (The Breasts of Tirésias), Armgard (The Rhine Nixies), Princess Ninette (The Love for Three Oranges), Musetta (La bohème), Pedro (Don Quixote), Silva Varescu (The Gipsy Princess), Micaela (Carmen), Grilletta (The Pharmacist), Rosina (The Barber of Seville), soprano singer in the Ballet Evening Stravinsky (The Wedding), Minka (The Nightingale of Gorenjska), A Sister (The Tenth Daughter), Minerve (Orpheus in the Underworld), Desdemona (Otello) and Kat'a (Kat'a Kabanova).
She has also established herself as a concert singer, regularly performing with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra and many other orchestras.
